Tot School - Holidays

Tot School">
 Samuel is 15.5 months old

Despite school being back last week, we are still in holiday mode.  One of the benefits of homeschooling is we can start when we are ready - I definitely wasn't ready this week!  So not much planned learning for tot school this week, but lots of life.

Samuel enjoyed playing with the autumn sensory box I made for him.

I let him have a go on the blackboard with some chalk, which he absolutely loved.  It was very short lived though because he loved eating the chalk even more than drawing with it!

Samuel played with the playdoh for the first time, but wasn't too impressed it with.  He poked it a few times and that was about it.  He liked it when I cut animal shapes out of it for him though.

Apart from this he spent most of the week practicing his favourite thing to do at the moment - climbing.  He climbed play equipment, study chairs, lounges and anything else he could find.

The Maze

This week was the last week of school holidays before we start term 2. At the start of the week we went for a visit to The Maze. There are four mazes and a spider web for the children (and adults) to solve as well as mini golf, koalas, kangaroos and emus and heaps of room to run and play. The kids absolutely loved it and we will definitely be coming back again.

May Sensory Box - Autumn

Autumn is finally here- Yay!!! Its only about 2 months late. Our sensory box this month is celebrating that fact.

Our sensory box contains the following items:
Autumn coloured pasta

Insects to dig for

Glow in the dark insect bands

Autumn coloured glass stones

Some autumn seed pods we collected from the park

Autumn leaves

And of course, some digging and pouring and collecting tools!

All three kids love the sensory box. Samuel really enjoyed this one and amazingly didn't try to eat the pasta!

There was lots of sorting and ordering and imaginative play happening from Liana and Liam, and of course, this was Samuel's favourite position to be in!

History

This term I started History again with Liana and Liam. We are repeating what I did with Liana when she was 5, but she doesn't seem to mind and enjoys being able to remember a lot of what we are covering. Liam is enjoying doing History for the first time. We are using Biblioplan with Story of The World as our spine.

The last couple of weeks we have been working our way through Ancient Egypt. We have practices using hieroglyphics and cuneiform

Made sugar cube pyramids

Made mummies

and a sacrcophagus to put our mummy in.

History is sooo much fun!!

Tot School

Tot School

Samuel is 15mths old.

It has been over 2 years since I last post a TotSchool post. Our Totschool star, Liam is now 5 years old, but we have a new star Samuel!!

We are only starting to get into the swing of things with our TotSchool as I have 2 other children to homeschool. Our purposeful paytime is ver hit and miss at the moment but Samuel doesn't mind and is still learning heaps from watching his big brother and sister do their work.

Most of this week was spent on Easter Activities. We did:

Easter dot painting

Played with our Easter sensory box

Went on an Easter egg hunt and Nana and Grandad's

Decorated his sister's art work!!

Some Gardening

Back After a Long Break

Gosh, it has been over two years since I last posted!! Needless, to say things have changed somewhat in that time! We now have a new addition to the family, Samuel, who is already 15mths old.

We are still homeschooling and loving it! Liana is now year 2 and Liam is pre-primary. The main purpose of this blog is to keep a record of all the fun things we are doing with our homeschooling. So hopefully I will get around to posting regularly.

More posts to follow with lots of photos to see what we've been up to.

New Haircut

Belated Merry Christmas to everyone. I have some Christmas posts to catch up on, but first I thought I would post some pics of Liana's new hair cut.

She has very thick hair and hates having it brushed and put up every day, so it was time for a change. Here are the before and after photos.
