X Marks the Spot (Feb 6, 2014)

We did lots more activities with our letter of the week theme: X marks the spot,God's word is a treasure. We also read Going on a Bear Hunt waaaay to many times. In the end I found an animated version on youtube and Samuel watched that while he recited the book about 10 times over! Good language practice for him!!

This Counts as School Work, Right?

So this counts as school work ,right?!  I'm sure there is some maths and problem solving in there.

Tot School (Feb 3 2014)

Tot School- otherwise known as keeping Nathanael busy while I teach the others!
Today Nathanael explored his ocean sensory box and actually managed to keep most of the water and contents in the box! Then we had some fun with the playdough and dot markers. He spent a lot of his time watching the older kids intently as they worked. He definitely wants to be included in "school time" this year.

First Day of 4 year old Kindy ( 2Feb 2014)

Sammy's first day of kindy! We are using God's Little Explorershttp://www.motherhoodonadime.com/kids/gods-little-explorer-preschool-curriculum/
Today we started with X marks the spot and learned all about the letter X and how God's Word is a treasure. After our seat work we went on a treasure hunt to find the letter x's I had hidden around the house!

Nathanael's Birthday

Gosh, his birthday was 2 months ago now.  That means he is 14 months old!  I am still telling everyone that he turned 1 a few weeks ago....hmm...try a few months ago.  My baby is no longer a baby.  He is walking, and running everywhere and getting into everything.  But still continues to be adorable.  Here are some photos from his Birthday Party.

Preschool - Wheels

Last week, Samuel's theme was wheels.  A definite hit in this house of boys!  Here is a look at a few of the things we did.

We, of course, read lots of books about wheels, and cars and trucks and then went on a hunt to see how many wheels we could find around the house.

We practiced our tracing by helping the vehicles drive to their signs, complete with sound effects.

Worked on scissor skills by cutting on the tyre tracks.

We did some painting with our cars and looked at the different tyre tracks each one made.

Then of course, we had heaps of fun washing and drying our cars when we were done!

Samuel made his own trucks using foam shapes.

Samuel's board at the end of the week.

Of course, we did lots and lots of playing during the week too!
